SCHEDULE WITH LINDY

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I view mental health issues and healing from a systemic perspective. We are who we are because of factors including both our genetic nature and our nurture. Not only do we have built-in temperament and proclivity, we are also shaped by our upbringing. These two factors interact over time while being raised in our family system. We do not experience emotions in a vacuum, but rather, we experience life as a part of a multi-generational emotional process founded within our family of origin and extended family system. Rather than treat the symptom, the systemic approach allows us treat mental health issues in the unique individual, treating them at the source. We look at the contributing factors, understand the struggles, and embrace change.

As an existential therapist, I believe that every one of us has a unique and different perspective on life. Each of our viewpoints and experiences are valid. Discovering the path to healing happens relationally between client and therapist using a client-based approach. I have no short-term 10 step solution for what ails you. What I do offer is a journey of self-expression that allows me to know the individual's experience through relationship, unity, and empathy. It is through this knowledge that I provide the best methods of healing.

Why do we struggle with our emotions the way we do? Why is it so difficult to find joy in our relationships rather than discord? As an Attachment therapist, I use multiple methods and modalities to provide clients with journey of greater self-compassion and understanding. The issues can be based in a lifetime of complexity or in a sudden and painful tragedy but in the end, the keys are simple. Know yourself, love yourself, and heal through a change in acceptance, understanding, and life perspective.
