Stephen Somerville
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
I'm Stephen Somerville, MA, LMFTA, and I'm so honored to welcome you. I am the owner of The Growth Space: Counseling and Therapy Services, PLLC- located inside the Life Directions Building. As a therapist, I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges together with compassion and understanding.
Life can be overwhelming at times; filled with anxiety or depression, relationship struggles, and difficult transitions. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can explore your inner world, build healthier relationships with yourself and others, while cultivating lasting change. After all, there is strength in human connection and the potential for growth lies within all of us.
My approach is integrative, drawing from training in evidence-based person-centered therapies such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Prepare/Enrich. I am also experienced in utilizing elements of CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, Narrative, Play/Art/Music therapy, and mindfulness to tailor an experiential treatment to your unique needs while being trauma-informed.
I believe your overall personal identity and relationship to self/other is integral to your well-being. I strive to incorporate any gender, sexual, religious, spiritual, cultural, or social elements that feel important to you; while creating a therapeutic environment that honors and respects your individuality. At the same time, together we focus on creating change and breaking patterns to be the best version of yourself. You are stronger than you think, and your worth is unconditional.
The story of your life has yet to be fully told and your courage to seek help shows that you may write the best chapter yet. I am honored to advocate for your needs and hold space for life's challenges with acceptance; life is not meant to be traversed alone.
You are invited to The Growth Space and welcomed on this journey. If you're ready to embark, I invite you to reach out.
